His wife <a title=\"Sophie Carolina Zander\" href=\"http:\/\/www.grenzig.com\/?page_id=627\">Sophie Carolina Zander<\/a>, (34) and three children, <a title=\"John A. Grenzig Jr.\" href=\"http:\/\/www.grenzig.com\/?page_id=111\"> John August Grenzig, Jr.<\/a> (6), Helena Sophie Grenzig (2), and Robert Grenzig (6 months) made up this family. Unfortunately Robert died 7 years later.<\/p>\n<h5>Timeline<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Two brothers and one sister, William his younger brother became a gunsmith and a master sheet metal worker.<\/li>\n<li>Moved from outlying farm areas of Berlin, Germany, to Berlin City to learn the Mason trade with his cousin, <a title=\"Friedrich A. Grenzig\" href=\"http:\/\/www.grenzig.com\/?page_id=297\">Friedrich August Grenzig<\/a>. abt 1850&#8217;s<\/li>\n<li>Married <a href=\"http:\/\/www.grenzig.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/JAGSrFamily1882.jpg\">Sophie Zander<\/a>: June 15th, 1862 at age 29<\/li>\n<li>Children: <a title=\"Son of John A. Grenzig Sr.\" href=\"http:\/\/www.grenzig.com\/?page_id=111\">John August Jr<\/a>., June 1863; Helen, Aug 1867; Robert, Feb 1870<\/li>\n<li>Immigrated to USA: June 1870, Ship: <a title=\"Westphalia\" href=\"http:\/\/www.grenzig.com\/?page_id=354\">Westphalia<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Contracted Small Pox abt 1871,72<\/li>\n<li>Built a 4 Family Home at <a title=\"25 Starr St.\" href=\"http:\/\/www.grenzig.com\/?page_id=399\">25 Starr St., Brooklyn NY<\/a>, June 1873<\/li>\n<li>Became a US Citizen, Date Unknown<\/li>\n<li>Worked as a Mason<\/li>\n<li>Worked as a Printer for George Monroe Publisher<br \/>\nWalked to work over the <a title=\"Ed on Brooklyn Bridge 11\/2012\" href=\"http:\/\/www.grenzig.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/DSC_6757.jpg\">Brooklyn Bridge<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Retired 1888 (age 55) and opened a candy store at <a title=\"25 Starr St.\" href=\"http:\/\/www.grenzig.com\/?page_id=399\">25 Starr St.<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Died: August 12, 1908 age 75<\/li>\n<li>Buried at <a title=\"Grenzig Plot at Evergreen Cemetery\" href=\"http:\/\/www.grenzig.com\/?page_id=582\">Evergreen Cemetery<\/a><\/li>\n<li>25 Starr St. home was sold &#8211; between 1911- 1920<\/li>\n<li>Sophie , his wife, then moved in with William Klein, her son-in-law.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>See <a title=\"Letter of 1970 by August J.
