Fake Passport?
The passport that John A. Grenzig Sr. used to come to the USA (1870) said Friedrich August Grenzig on it yet had John’s wife Sophie, and his three children on it, not Friedrich’s. It seems that John some how used Friedrich’s passport but we do not know why. They both had the middle name August, and John only signed the passport as August Grenzig, possibly in fear of being caught forging a signature on a document. Maybe John could not obtain his own Passport in Germany, and used Friedrich’s instead! This is just speculation, and we will most likely never get the true answer!
